The top-ranked LSU baseball team lost for the first time Friday night as Kansas outscored the Fighting Tigers 11 to 9. The Jayhawks jumped out to a 9 to one lead by scoring six runs in the second off starting pitcher Joey Bourgeois. LSU made it close in the end by scoring five runs in the seventh, but still ended up dropping its first game of the season.
Carmelo Anthony had the whole repertoire working. There were graceful rainbow jumpers from 20 feet, tough layups in crowds, backdoor cuts for two-handed jams and even some gritty offensive rebounds and putbacks. The struggling New Orleans Hornets could keep pace for only so long.
The New Orleans Saints confirmed the team has a pair of players visiting today to discuss possibly joining the Saints. "We've got James Hall and Jake Delhomme, and that's all I'm willing to disclose at this time," General Manager Mickey Loomis said.
